Application — the lower half

Five lanes on a laptop: panels at 16, gaps at 12, rows at 8. Calm through alignment, not air.

Panel padding--app-pad · 16
Lane / card gap--app-gap · 12
Control height--control-h · 34
Compact control--control-h-sm · 28
Row leading--lh-ui-tight · 1.35

There is no second spacing scale. "The luxury signal is air" was written for a marketing page; an operational board that honoured it would fit three lanes on a laptop. But a parallel compact scale would drift, so the app keeps the same 4px grid and simply lives on its lower half, with the shared dimensions named once in tokens/app.css (--app-pad, --app-gap, --control-h) so mixed rows align without per-surface invention. Type does the rest: same size ramp, sans family, --lh-ui for chrome and --lh-ui-tight inside rows — density comes from leading and family, not from smaller text.
